Century
In 1911 many painters study abroad and they brought back new innovations
including bold colors, European brushwork, perspective, and tendencies
toward abstraction idea to China.
In 1949 under the leadership of Mao Zedong (Tse-Tung), painting and the
decorative arts were infused with political content. The actual styles of
painting often draw on the advances of the post-Ching schools, but the
subject matter includes the themes extolling socialist reconstruction.
Since the death of Mao in 1976, Chinese art become less political in all
levels.
Hsu Pei-hung is one of the most famous artist during this period.
